St John is not-for-profit emergency medical service, supported by government funding, social enterprise, community donations, and corporate sponsorships.

We work together with partners to provide, develop and strengthen emergency medical response and retrieval services in PNG, as an annex of government. We provide a holistic approach to emergency health care by providing services at all stages of a patient’s emergency journey. At a community level we teaching first aid which equips people with skills to quickly preserve life in the first few moments. Our fleet of modern ambulances provides emergency medical response and transport. Our at home medical care services helps people get convenient health care at home, reducing the burden on busy emergency departments. We teach basic and emergency life support courses to doctors and nurses so they have the skills to provide immediate interventions in rural and remote hospitals.

Hundreds of St John personnel proudly and passionately serve in the road and air ambulance service, providing medical response and patient transport services 24/7, 365 days of the year. Our ambulance operations across PNG are coordinated from our state-of-the-art emergency control centre in Port Moresby. The centre ensures lifesaving treatment reaches those in need.
